Your AVITRON Account, Better Protected
AVITRON COMMUNITY NEWSPublished by AVITRON administration# Your AVITRON Account, Better Protected **Short description:** Discover AVITRON’s new account protections, including optional two-factor authentication, CAPTCHA, and screening for exposed passwords—and learn how to protect your own account. AVITRON is a place for avatars, friendships, creativity, and community. As we grow, protecting the people behind those avatars matters just as much as adding exciting new features. We have introduced several security improvements to help protect your account and reduce automated abuse. ## Add an extra layer with two-factor authentication Members can now enable two-factor authentication using an authenticator app. After your usual sign-in, you will also need a temporary code generated by your app. To get started, open **Two-factor authentication** from your member dashboard. Choose **Set up authenticator**, scan the private QR code, and enter the six-digit code to verify and enable protection. Two-factor authentication is optional for members and required for administrative tools. Each member must enable it personally. Keep a secure authenticator backup or add a backup authenticator before changing phones. A password reset does not bypass two-factor authentication. ## Protection against exposed passwords A leaked password is a password found in known data breaches—even breaches at unrelated websites. AVITRON now screens passwords during registration and password changes. If a password is known to be exposed, choose a different one. This warning does **not** mean AVITRON was hacked. Use a unique passphrase containing at least **12 characters**, and avoid reusing passwords from other accounts. ## CAPTCHA helps keep bots out Cloudflare Turnstile provides a security check on email registration, email/password sign-in, and password-reset forms. Complete the check when prompted. It helps reduce automated abuse while keeping ordinary access straightforward. ## Protection behind the scenes The website also uses server-side permission checks, request limits, upload restrictions, and browser security headers. Daily encrypted backups protect community database records; uploaded media requires separate backup coverage. These measures reduce risk, but no website can guarantee protection against every attack. ## Your part in a safer community Never share your password, authenticator code, or setup QR code. Check that you are visiting **avitronmultiverse.com**, avoid suspicious links, and report concerning activity. Our AI helper can explain these features and guide you through the website. It cannot view your password, access private conversations, or change your security settings. For account assistance, contact **support@avitronmultiverse.com**. Support will never ask you to send your password or authenticator code. **Your avatar. Your community.
